Video: How to Camp and Have a Fire Enjoyably in the Rain
This is a day trip I made in early November 2017, with my Cape Shore Water Dog, Saku. We go through the woods of Newfoundland, Canada and weather a fine dose of wind and rain. I underline how it can be comfortable and enjoyable in the woods during these conditions, with very little. Other than a raised ground coating of logs lined with my mat or boughs, this shelter has everything needed to withstand a strong storm. If you are not in a depression and on solid ground, you can get by without the raised platform, like I did above. Hope you enjoy it, Thanks for watching! Video: A Fall Night Camping Under the Tarp
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hpJ3HMhPzI&t=128s This is an overnight trip made in late October 2017, with my Cape Shore Water Dog Saku, exploring the woods of Eastern Newfoundland. I camp under the tarp by the open fire, describe some of the gear I carry, set a few snares and show tricks that I use to get things done. I will do vids like this periodically to pass on some skills and tricks I use so feel free to let me know in the comments if you’d like them to be shorter, longer, etc. I appreciate any constructive feedback. Hope you enjoy it. As always thanks for the support. Cheers Follow me if you are interested! GUIDE: Planning a trip through the Avalon Wilderness Reserve
Anyone who follows me closely will know that I have spent many nights in Newfoundland’s Avalon Wilderness Reserve. The 1,070 km2 area of barrens, forests and waterways is protected and gives a fine sample of pristine outdoors only a short drive from our provinces capital city of St. John’s. My Tours in the AWR On my first trip through in 2012 I paddled into Old Sea from Salmonier Line with my MUN (Memorial University of Newfoundland) Physical Education class. That was when I really got the itch to spend more time outdoors. From here I made two other small trips, again from Salmonier Line in 2013 with two separate buddies and then in October 2014 I paddled 40km from Cape Pond to Peak Pond with my cousin. After that it was my 14 day solo trip of 120km in 2015 from Trepassey to Peak Pond. I hiked 65 kilometres from…
