Me and Saku are back at it again. The itch for the unknown has been strong. On July 26th, we will leave North West River, Labrador to begin an approximately 1700 kilometre expedition across the Labrador Peninsula by foot and canoe, towards the shores of Hudson Bay. For this trip I am extremely proud and honoured to have received support from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and MEC – Official Outfitter for the RCGS Expeditions program. During the project you will be able to track us as I send out GPS coordinates and a short message daily. Hopefully you can join us for the ride. It’s going to be wild! I will share more in the coming weeks.
This dream project is not only the perfect test for me, and Saku, but it is also going to be a learning experience. It will be an effort to view and record some of the last untouched wilderness areas within the Labrador Peninsula, Canada, to share with the world. Hopefully by revealing this beauty, and sharing my passion, I can inspire others to better appreciate and respect wilderness, nature, and the many valuable lessons it can teach us. Maybe you will even dare to chase your own dreams.
Here is a trailer I produced, thanks for watching:

More information on the expedition: From North West River, Labrador, we will travel up Grand Lake. From here we will go briefly up the Naskaupi River, then branch to the Red Wine River in order to get us to Smallwood Reservoir, the 10th largest lake in Canada and one of the countries biggest reservoirs.
Then I will paddle roughly 180 kilometres across Smallwood and up the northwest branching Ashuanipi River to reach Menihek Lake. From there, it will be up the McPhayden River into Quebec to eventually reach and cross the large Caniapiscau Reservoir.
Finally we will travel 734 kilometres down the Great Whale River to the shores of Hudson Bay and more specifically the Cree and Inuit villages of Kuujjuarapik and Whapmagootsui, Quebec. Kuujjuarapik meaning “little great river” in Inuit and Whapmagootsui “where there are whales” in Cree, is the end point of our journey. In total we will cover between 1600-1700 kilometres of varying landscapes from rivers and lakes to forest and barrens.
This dream project will be an effort to view and record some of the last untouched wilderness areas within the Labrador Peninsula, Canada, to share with the world. Hopefully by revealing this beauty I can inspire others to better appreciate and respect wilderness and nature at its most preserved state, and the many valuable lessons it can teach us. Maybe you will even dare to chase your own dreams.
