I have a deep passion for nature. And I want others to appreciate it as well. Through filming, writing, speaking and eventually, courses, my life mission is to provide new generations with the inspiration, drive and training required to utilize the outdoors. It’s needed now more than ever before.
I also want to make this country more known to Canadians and the rest of the world. As do the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. They have teamed up with MEC and provide Canadians expedition grants. I received a major one for my 52-day expedition last summer with Saku. I was extremely grateful for this. The same trip is currently airing as a series on Bell Fibe TV1 Channel 1 “Barbour & Saku: Through the Woods”
They are now featuring a writeup of that journey on their homepage:

Sponsorships & grants are not necessary to have a good old fashion adventure, but they help if you want to have a long safe one. Are you a Canadian with an exciting expedition idea and a well thought out plan? Consider applying for their expeditions program. You can find more details on the RCGS website. They only select a few expeditions out of many applications each year. You may not strike a grant on your first try (I attempted for Across Newfoundland 2017 and did not get accepted), but if you never give up and keep believing… anything is possible.
